Crozer-Chester Medical Center

Crozer-Chester Medical Center (Crozer) is a 371-bed not-for-profit tertiary-care teaching hospital located on a 68-acre campus. Crozer was established in 1963 through the merger of Chester Hospital (c. 1893) and Crozer Hospital (c. 1902), and became one of the founding hospitals of CKHS in 1990. Today, the medical center admits more than 22,000 patients, treats approximately 53,000 Emergency Department patients, and delivers about 2,000 babies a year.

In 2006, Crozer opened the doors to a new 40,000 square-foot Emergency Department, which more than doubled the space devoted to emergency medicine and enhanced privacy and comfort for patients and their families. In 2007, the Crozer-Keystone Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine opened on the Crozer campus, offering patients with chronic wounds advanced outpatient wound care delivered by a multidisciplinary team of specialists. In 2008, the Bertram Speare Outpatient Pavilion opened, offering improved access for people coming to the hospital for outpatient procedures. In 2009, Crozer was certified as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission, one of only two hospitals (along with Delaware County Memorial Hospital) in Delaware County to hold that distinction.
