University Crossings
Widener University, the city of Chester, Crozer-Chester Medical Center, The Reinvestment Fund, Delaware County and Teres Holdings, LLC, announce the opening of The Hub at Widener! The debut of the sparkling new commercial and residential district marks the first of three project phases to be completed over the next two years that will eventually comprise University Crossings. Included in the just-finished Hub at Widener: a 48-room ?green? Best Western Hotel & Suites?Chester?s first in 35 years? energy efficient apartments, a 24-hour convenience store and 15,000 square feet of retail space. Perhaps equally exciting to the mix of new offerings is The Hub?s distinct architecture. Designed to reflect the exciting, intimately scaled jumble of forms typically found in university campus towns; its interconnected collection of buildings feature what could best be described as traditional materials used in unexpected ways. Modern glazing, heating, ventilation and lighting selected for their energy efficiency create spaces that are as environmentally friendly as they are unique. The new 60-unit apartment complex, itself a LEED certified green building, features a host of modern amenities and helpful services including a monitored card access control system for convenience and security.
Once finished, University Crossings will also include a full-service restaurant, full-service bank with a drive-through window, coffee shop, hair salon, Chester Police sub-station, medical offices and additional housing when completed.
