CITY RECEIVES DONATION TO UPDATE POLICE MANUAL
Chester, PA – Today it was announced that the City of Chester is the recipient of a $50,000 private donation over a two year period, to update the Chester Police Manual. The donation was accepted at a check presentation by Mayor Wendell N. Butler, Jr. and Police Chief Floyd Lewis, III along with Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi and other city officials.

“We are very pleased to be the recipient of this generous donation to update this critical tool used by our police officers on a daily basis,” said Mayor Wendell N. Butler, Jr. “These funds will allow us to organize directives in a more comprehensive and professional manner.”

The donation will serve to update the manual and its contents and also provide the means to print more copies for Chester’s police force of more than one hundred officers.
The donor of the funds, who wishes to remain anonymous, initially reached out to Senator Pileggi, who worked with the City to organize the donation.

“This generous gift will be put to good use,” said Senator Pileggi. “I want to thank the donor for being willing to help Chester’s police force in this way.”

The purpose of the police manual is to provide guidelines and directives recognized as official policy, which are applied on a department-wide basis. Comprised of over seventy directives, the police manual is designed to assist Chester Police officers in the comprehension and effective performance of administrative duties, police procedures, criminal investigations and more.
