CITY MAKES DONATION TO J. LEWIS CROZER LIBRARY
Chester, PA – During a time of economic difficulty, when most cities are cutting back on resources and services, the City of Chester announced a $105,000 donation to the J. Lewis Crozer Library. Joined by staff and board members of the library, Mayor and Council made the announcement on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at a check presentation at City Hall.

"J. Lewis Crozer Library is a haven for creativity and education for people of all ages, and we appreciate the quality programs and services the library provides to residents,” said Mayor Wendell. N. Butler, Jr. “The library will certainly put this funding to good use.”

The City provides this donation to the library on an annual basis, as Mayor Butler and City Council fully support J. Lewis Crozer Library and recognize the valuable programs and services it provides to Chester residents. The City has previously invested over $100,000 into upgrading the J. Lewis Crozer Library and the $105,000 donation announced today is a 50% operating subsidy increase from last year’s donation.

Located at 6th & Engle Streets in Chester, J. Lewis Crozer Library has the distinction of being the third library founded in the state of Pennsylvania. Today the library continues to provide Chester residents with access to information through a quality collection of books, magazines, and other publications.

Each month J. Lewis Crozer Library hosts a series of programs open to the public, including movie nights, arts and crafts activities, book readings and signings, and many more. This month the library is celebrating Black History Month with a variety of programs that spotlight the achievements and history of African Americans. For more information visit the J.
