University Crossing in Chester earns award By Amy Brisson Times Correspondent
CHESTER — University Crossings, the $50 million redevelopment project led by Widener University and Crozer Chester Medical Center, was recently singled out for an award from the Delaware County Planning Commission.
The 2010 William H. Bates Memorial Award was presented to the developer, Teres Holding LLC, on Feb. 18 at Chester City Hall.
It recognized the project, located on Providence Avenue, as an “outstanding example of planning, design and land development.”
Since the new retail center was built, several well-known corporations have opened their doors at University Crossings.
Last summer, TD Bank joined the development, becoming the first new bank to open in the city in 15 years.
It operates alongside a new Best Western Hotel and a 7-Eleven convenience store, and will eventually be joined by a planned Chester police substation and full-service restaurant.
