Philadelphia Union-Widener U. in marketing deal
Philadelphia Business Journal - by John George Staff Writer

The Philadelphia Union agreed to a multiyear marketing partnership Wednesday with Widener University.

The Chester, Pa., college will be the official university of the Philadelphia Union; its Chester soccer stadium, PPL Park; and the Union’s youth soccer partners, the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association and the Delaware Youth Soccer Association

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The multitiered partnership — which includes signage, television and website advertising spots — is aimed not only at promoting the growth of youth soccer in Chester, but also at increasing awareness of Widener University and its undergraduate and graduate academic programs.

Widener University in Chester has an enrollment of about 6,500 students

Nick Sakiewicz, CEO and operating partner of Keystone Sports and Entertainment, which owns the Union, called the deal “another great example of two Chester companies partnering to reinforce our commitment to the city of Chester.”
